RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES

At Boston University, our chapter of Alpha Delta Pi supports Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) through both fundraising and on-site service. Each year, we host two major philanthropy events open to the entire BU student body. In the fall, we traditionally hold Friday Night Lights, a campus-wide flag football tournament that brings students together for a night of friendly competition and giving back. In the spring, we’ve hosted events like ADPidol, a student talent show, and most recently ADStride, a 5K fun run held in Spring 2025 that brought our members together to support RMHC in an active and energetic way. All students are invited to attend and participate in these events, which are always open to the entire BU community. All proceeds from these events go directly to RMHC.

In addition to our fundraising efforts, we work closely with Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England on local initiatives. Our on-site involvement has included visiting Ronald McDonald House Boston Harbor to cook meals for families, make Valentine’s Day cards with the kids, and support the house however we can. These experiences allow our members to connect personally with RMHC’s mission and the people it serves.

What are Ronald McDonald House Charities?
Alpha Delta Pi is proud of its long-standing relationship with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The mission of RMHC is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. RMHC makes an immediate, positive impact on children’s lives through its global network of chapters and three core programs: Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles. RMHC also provides funding to other nonprofit organizations focused on serving children in need.

All RMHC houses provide comfort, care, and a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. In addition to financial support, many Alpha Delta Pi collegiate chapters and alumnae associations volunteer their time at these houses—cooking meals, maintaining spaces, and connecting with the children and families who live there. This hands-on involvement is a core part of our commitment to RMHC and a meaningful way for sisters to give back.
